The Block 2019 | Courtyard reveals

When you think about the courtyard in St Kilda, you immediately imagine lots of greenery, mixed with modern architecture and of course and entertainment area.

While each team on The Block has something to love about their courtyard, only two teams delivered the complete package.

Style highlights …

Jesse and Mel won the week with their effortless modern space, and it’s not hard to see why.

The hero was the eight-meter high tiled feature wall, which was not only stunning but acted as the perfect pop of colour against the black and timber pallet.

I loved their choice of statement sconce lighting which adds warmth to the space as well as all the greenery.

As a space for outdoor entertaining, the courtyard works beautifully, featuring a timber BBQ and bar fridge and a large timber seating area table and black chairs.

Close behind them were Mitch and Mark who created a ‘Palm Springs’-inspired outdoor courtyard that was light, bright, fresh and ‘joyful’ as described by Shaynna Blaze.

The first thing that captures the eye is their neon sign against that black wall, not only is it a true design moment but so encapsulating of St Kilda and its personality.

The hero was of the space was that amazing floor-to-ceiling outdoor wallpaper, featuring enormous palm trees and breeze blocks, which suited the ongoing ‘Palm Springs’ theme.

I love their use of white tiling on for the BBQ and furniture with the pop of blue – really fun and fresh.

Andy and Deb created a really beautiful “inner-city oasis” space, featuring a timber feature walls and vertical garden details.

The space is earthy, warm and welcoming with a lovely timber bench seat, circular coffee table and lovely addition of the artificial grass.

Tess and Luke created a very modern, dramatic space, lux space.

Their hero is, without doubt, the gorgeous spiral staircase and the love their use of lighting and greenery to add a sense of warmth.

Elise and Matt created a beautiful, tranquil space in their courtyard.

Their stone feature wall tied in beautifully with the feature fireplace inside their living area and worked beautifully with the bamboo garden feature and timber bench seat.
